Sebastian Vettel managed to win the world championship four times with Red Bull Racing between 2010 and 2013. After the 2014 season, he hoped to repeat the same feat at Ferrari, but that challenge proved to be more difficult than expected. In conversation with the Swiss Blick, he looks back on this period.

For six seasons, the Italian team hoped that Vettel would fight for the world championship. Vettel managed to stay close to Lewis Hamilton in the first half of both 2017 and 2018, but both times he was unable to keep the pressure on his rival. This season he made the switch to Aston Martin, where there is significantly less pressure on his performance.

He looks back on his time at Ferrari positively. "My departure from Ferrari was maybe a bit strange", Vettel states in the interview. "In that respect I'm happier now than before. I never wanted to miss my time at Ferrari, also taking into account that my planned big successes didn't come true there. We wanted to be world champions."

New hope at Ferrari

With Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, Ferrari hope to fight for the world title again in the coming years. For now, the gap to Mercedes and Red Bull is still too big, but with the rule changes Ferrari will hope to benefit considerably.
