Max Verstappen was able to celebrate his brand new world title in the evening after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but on Tuesday he is expected to be back on the track. There he will participate in Pirelli's tyre test, which will introduce the 18-inch tyres from next year. Nyck de Vries will also be in action: he will participate in the Young Drivers Test on behalf of Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton will not take part in the test.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the teams will appear at the Yas Marina Circuit with special test cars to test the new Pirelli tyres. Only Williams will not participate in the test as the team does not have such a car. However, the team will participate in the Young Driver Test on Wednesday with driver Logan Sargeant in the regular car.

Both drivers of each team participate in one of the two test days. Verstappen will appear on Tuesday and teammate Sergio Perez on Wednesday. Juri Vips participates on behalf of Red Bull Racing in the Young Driver Test.

Hamilton absent during Abu Dhabi tyre test

Two drivers are conspicuous by their absence: Nikita Mazepin has to miss the test because of his positive coronavirus test. Hamilton is also absent. Instead, George Russell will take part in both test days on behalf of his new employer.
