Max Verstappen ran away with the world title in Abu Dhabi in the closing stages of the final race of the season. An exciting title battle with Lewis Hamilton came to a spectacular end. On the grid the other drivers are unanimous; both drivers are the heroes of the year.

Verstappen young veteran

After seven years in Formula 1, Verstappen is a regular on the grid. His former colleagues and rivals are happy after the race for the Dutchman who claimed his first title in Abu Dhabi. Congratulations for Verstappen everywhere, but also the performance of Hamilton is not forgotten. The battle between the two Red Bull Racing and Mercedes bantams made 2021 an unforgettable F1 season.

Current teammate Sergio Perez is mostly focused on Verstappen and his team. F1.com Reports that Perez is slightly disappointed that the team could not take the constructors' title this year, but Verstappen's title is a great result. Fernando Alonso who emerged as a Verstappen fan in 2021 calls it an epic battle. The Spaniard says that the sport, in general, deserves kudos for the spectacle and Verstappen obviously deserves one in particular.

Support for Verstappen and Hamilton

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who knows how it feels to win a title with Red Bull, congratulated both Hamilton and Verstappen. "I'm happy for Max. I think they both deserved it." Carlos Sainz joins Vettel in congratulating him. The Ferrari driver also thinks both drivers deserved to win. An extra congratulations goes to Verstappen for 'that mega win'

In short order, Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda of Red Bull sister team AlphaTauri also came up with congratulations to Verstappen. Finally, Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon are also upside down from the season. Ocon does still cite the end of the race in Abu Dhabi and the tyre difference between Hamilton and Verstappen. "But let's not forget the great races of Max. He deserves the title."
