Max Verstappen won his first world title at the age of 24, joining an illustrious list of champions under the age of 25. The question that arises is: Will Verstappen be the best ever? Jan Lammers and Christijan Albers provide the answers.

Verstappen joins the group of young winners that consists of Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. All are good for at least two world titles. The Dutchman's first title immediately whets the appetite for more; what else is he capable of? De Telegraaf We asked Lammers and Albers if they think Verstappen can become the best F1 driver ever.

Comparing Verstappen is difficult

The question is difficult for the former F1 drivers to answer. They both emphasise the difference in generations in F1. Lammers wonders how Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen can be compared to Ayrton Senna or to Michael Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio. The differences in material and competition are very big.

Nevertheless Lammers concludes: "For me Max is the best driver I have seen in the last forty years. Even though he wouldn't win a championship after this." His colleague Albers sees that Verstappen is in any case well on his way to becoming the best ever: "Max is still super young and I find it incredible how consistently he performs." That Verstappen is so much stronger than his teammate Sergio Perez speaks volumes according to the F1 expert. With Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, he didn't see such a big difference on the Saturdays as he did with the Red Bull duo.
