The Formula One teams have to get ready for the final race of the Formula One season in the United Arab Emirates after a thrilling race in Saudi Arabia. What have been the highlights at the Yas Marina circuit in recent years?

Nico Rosberg 's last race in 2016

Lewis Hamilton earned his fourth consecutive victory with his first place, but Nico Rosberg was the star of the weekend. He started the race weekend with a twelve point lead over Hamilton and Mercedes had a 276 point lead over Red Bull Racing in the constructors' championship. Rosberg crossed the finish line in second place to win his first world title. A week later, the German announced his retirement from Formula One, making this his last Grand Prix.

Violation of Ferrari and podium for Verstappen in 2019

Before the 2019 race, it was announced that the fuel mass in Charles Leclerc's car was different from the amount measured by the FIA. The Monegasque eventually finished the race in third place and was allowed to keep that spot. Ferrari were fined 50,000 euros for the infringement.

Leclerc shared the podium with Max Verstappen and Hamilton. The Brit was already world champion and Mercedes had already won the constructors' championship, but the battle for third was still going on. In the end, Verstappen managed to hold on to third place with a fourteen point lead over the Ferrari driver.

Pole position and Verstappen victory in 2020

Last year, this race was a great success for Verstappen. He achieved pole position, which meant that for the first time that season no car with a Mercedes engine would start from the front. It was also the first time since 2013 that there was not a Mercedes car on pole position.

The Dutchman then went on to win the race, having led every race lap. It was the first time in seven years that Red Bull Racing took another victory at this track. He ended up sharing the podium with Valtteri Bottas and Hamilton. It was also a special weekend for McLaren, as they finished in third place in the Constructors' Championship, scoring their highest final ranking since 2012.
