Max Verstappen has proven this season that he is fully prepared to become World Champion. The Dutchman will start the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix with an eight-point lead over Lewis Hamilton. Anthony Davidson told Motorsport.com that he is very impressed with both drivers, but especially with the Red Bull Racing driver.

The 24-year-old driver has pulled out all the stops this season to have a chance at the title. He has reached the podium sixteen times and won nine times. Davidson is therefore very impressed with his passion and speed. "He drives with so much energy, fire and without any compassion. I really love watching him. And like Lewis, he's awfully fast. That's why we have such a fierce battle right now."

'Exceptional talents'

Verstappen could become the first Dutch Formula One World Champion today, but he will need to score 18 more points than the seven-time World Champion. According to the former Formula 1 driver the battle is no longer just about the battles on track, as it has also become a psychological game. Despite that, both drivers manage to put up great performances time and time again.

"The level at which they operate week in week out is unattainable for most drivers. It requires something extra, something that most drivers on the grid don't have. We're lucky to have this fight. I don't know how this will end, but it's incredibly exciting to see these two exceptional talents at work. They are without doubt some of the best drivers I have ever seen in Formula One," said the Briton.

Davidson says that such an exciting title race is nothing new. He compares the duel with the fights between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in the eighties and nineties. "History repeats itself. And just like then, now I have no idea which way it will fall."
