Frank Williams has passed away and the F1-world is in deep mourning. The born winner is widely honoured and the last Williams champion(1997) Jacques Villeneuve also honoured his former team boss with a message of fond memories.

Villeneuve drove for the team for three years and already knew the team well as his own father had to compete against the Williams team and Head in his career. The former world champion and Williams driver writes:

"I was sorry to hear yesterday's news regarding the death of Sir Frank Williams. My sympathies are with his colleagues, friends and family. I had the satisfation of driving for Frank for three seasons in F1; during which time I won my 1997 world title and when we won the constructors' championship twice. The result of the time we spent together is that we shared deep respect and affection for each other."

"Frank was unique, always a racer, completely focused on his team and the challenge of winning. My father knew him and raced against Williams during his career. When I was invited to drive for Williams, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn't miss, as Frank and his partner Patrick Head had created a formidable team. Naturally I have complete admiration for what Frank has achieved in Formula 1, but also for his courage in dealing with his personal adversity following his road crash. I will remember him as a great fighter, both on and off the track." Read the full and original post below.
