"Technical problem" caused Kubica to be voted Driver of the Day in Austria

It has been reported that it was a technical issue which saw Formula 1 announce Robert Kubica as their Driver of the Day at the Austrian Grand Prix. The announcement came as a shock to the fans as Kubica finished the race in last place, three laps behind the winner of the Grand Prix, Max Verstappen.

It is thought that a technical issue saw Kubica be voted Driver of the Day as Formula 1 fans were unanimous in their decision that Max Verstappen should have instead won the poll.

The FOM (Formula 1 Management) informed GPToday.net: "There was a technical problem that is currently being investigated."

Fans who voted for Max Verstappen were then shown a message saying "thanks for voting for Robert Kubica."

It is yet to be confirmed who is driver of the day but many expect Verstappen to get the most votes despite quality performances from Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

FOM will hope that they can fix this bug as it does not help the sports image of being one of the leading in terms of technology.
