Stoffel Vandoorne qualified on pole through wet conditions this morning in Hong Kong. In typical Formula E style, it was a frantic and exciting session, with the former McLaren driver coming out on top.

The race, which starts at 8 am UK time is forecast to be wet. The first ever real wet race in Formula E's short 50 race history.

After Vandoorne, who moved to Formula E for the start of this season, qualified on pole, spoke of his "great" achievement.

"It's great to be on pole today for the 50th E-Prix race. It'll be tricky conditions out there, as it was qualifying, so to do have done the job, especially when it's so challenging, was great," he told the BBC.

"It's important to start ahead but let's see if we can keep it up in the race."
