Hamilton on new, higher minimum weight: "I'm not trying to be the Hulk!"

Reigning champion Lewis Hamilton is thrilled to be able to put on weight and eat whatever he wants with the new, higher minimum weight for Formula 1 drivers in 2019.

Well-documented on his social media, Hamilton was very active during the winter, trying out several different sports in his downtime like surfing and martial arts.

"For me it's so much more," Hamilton told Motorsport-Magazin when asked about him gaining weight.

"I'm heavier, although I do not eat sweets often. I could eat whatever I wanted during the break, but I always remained very active."

Always remaining active, Hamilton spent less time training in the gym and more time going out and being active, challenging himself physically by trying other sports.

"I've enjoyed training more than ever before. It used to be less fun, but if you can make it interesting and different It's something else.

"I've been pretty clean since last month. Body fat is going down, I'm more defined and have more efficient muscle mass. I'm not trying to be the Hulk because of course it takes time to build muscle, but it was great to be able to eat whatever you want."

Let's hope all of the drivers can fit in their seats with all the weight gaining that's happening across the paddock!
