Esteban Ocon admits that Force India didn't have the pace to recover from the back of the grid following Saturday's Qualifying.

Force India driver Esteban Ocon has admitted that his team didn't have the speed to recover from the back of the grid following Force India struggling in Saturday's Qualifying.

Ocon, who has been linked with a move to Renault in recent weeks, struggled to thirteenth position in Hungary.

The Frenchman was eliminated from Q1 on Saturday, as weather had an impact at the Hungaroring.

So Ocon started from seventeenth on the grid and has admitted the challenge was to get into the top ten was too much as the VMJ11 did not have the pace that was needed to get into the points.

"A difficult race for us and we knew it was going to be a big challenge to score points today," Ocon told The Checkered Flag.

"The start of the race was so strong and we made up a few positions, but we didn't have enough pace to recover from the back of the grid and fight for points.

"I enjoyed some good battles with the Renaults, but the problems in qualifying yesterday really determined our result today."

Ocon also admitted that there is still a long way to go in the season and that he's looking forward to a well-deserved break.

"We have a few weeks off now and there is still a long way to go in the second half of the season," Ocon added.

"Everybody deserves a rest so that we can come back stronger in Spa."
