Leclerc longs to return to this engine era

Charles Leclerc has been active in Formula 1 since 2018, yet he has a clear idea about what he would change in Formula 1 if he had his way. For instance, the Monegasque is outspoken about the current era's engines and longs for a return to the V10 engine.

Despite being active in the premier class for only four years, Leclerc has quite a CV. In 2016, in addition to his activities in GP3, Leclerc became a development driver at Ferrari's Formula 1 team, where he is also included in the Ferrari Driver Academy, the team's training programme. In 2018, he made his Formula 1 racing debut for Sauber. In 2019, Leclerc made the switch to Ferrari's team, replacing Kimi Räikkönen, who in turn replaced Leclerc at Sauber.

Insane

With all his experience, the Ferrari driver does have a clear opinion on the engines used in the current era. Leclerc was a guest on the Muschio Selvaggio podcast where, among other things, he was asked what he would change about Formula 1 if he were allowed to decide. "The engine. We drove with a V10 for fun and the noise was crazy. Compared to the current engine the noise was different. In the world we live in, though, you have to be careful about emissions and the direction is towards a more and more hybrid world."
