Charles Leclerc drove well in Azerbaijan and Spain to take strong momentum into his home Grand Prix. Vettel acknowledged his performances in today’s press conference.

Leclerc is currently 13th in the World Championship, ahead of McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne and well in contention for a top 10 finish. Vettel was asked if he expected Leclerc to move to Ferrari.

“I don’t know,” replied Vettel. “I’m not signing who is sitting next to me. Probably ask Maurizio, but I don’t see why not.

“Obviously, he has more years than all of us here if you look at the passport.

“The races he has had so far, he has used his opportunities, scored points in a car that doesn’t belong in the points. He’s doing everything that he can at the moment.”

Vettel went on to confirm nothing has been set in stone for the future. He also admitted he wouldn’t mind seeing Hamilton wear Red.

“I wouldn’t mind [if Hamilton joined Ferrari],” added Vettel. To be completely honest, I’m very happy with the relationship I have with Kimi.

“Plus we just spoke about Charles. You never know what will happen.”

Hamilton and Vettel are currently fighting it out to see who will be the first to win their 5th World Championship. The next instalment takes place in Monaco on Sunday.
