George Russell is experiencing a difficult first season with Mercedes. Partly due to the problems with porpoising, the German team is unable to compete with Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. Despite this, Mercedes are not many points behind the Italians, as the Briton also sees.

Russell is fourth in the world championship with only seventeen points less than Charles Leclerc who is third. In the Constructors' Championship, the difference between Ferrari and Mercedes is 38 points, which also seems to be bridgeable.

"You've got to keep on scoring," Russell's statement at the FIA press conference read. "This is a Championship where you've got the chance to score every single race and it doesn't matter how fast your car is, if you're not scoring those points, then your tally is not going to increase."

Russell demands more from Mercedes

At the same time, the driver is putting his team on edge. According to Russell, Mercedes is profiting too much from the problems of other racing teams this season. "We can't keep on relying on others' misfortune, and we need to find more performance. And that's what everyone's trying their hardest to achieve."
