Bright pink from BWT is back in 2022: this is what previous BWT cars looked like

Alpine announced Friday that the team will go through life as BWT Alpine F1 Team starting in 2022. BWT had to look for a new team to sponsor after leaving Aston Martin.

BWT is unmistakable in motorsport, as the pink that the sponsor always wants to see back on the cars, stands out well in any field of cars. GPblog takes a look at the BWT cars of the past five years.

Pink Formula One cars

In 2017, there were suddenly two bright pink cars on the grid. Force India had struck a mega deal with BWT, Best Water Technology. The deal meant trading in the traditional silver livery for BWT's pink. It was a great year for BWT to step in, as the team performed above expectations for the second year in a row, finishing in a neat fourth place among the constructors.

A year later, Force India again came out with a bright pink livery. This time, though, there was a little more room for white. Although the team name didn't make it to the end of the year and changed to Racing Point, the deal with BWT remained. Lawrence Stroll took over the team and ensured that the bright pink cars were also driven in 2019 and 2020.

No more main sponsor

In 2021 there was a big change for the small Racing Point. The team changed from Racing Point to Aston Martin and the color pink had to make way for the British Racing Green of Aston Martin. For some time it was unclear whether BWT would continue as sponsor of the team because the wish of a pink car could not be fulfilled. Aston Martin and BWT came to a compromise: the water company would no longer be the main sponsor and the color pink was limited to a few lines on the car.

Aston Martin unveiled its 2022 car on Thursday, and on it, BWT and the brand's pink were completely gone. Instead, it opted for lime green, which Aston Martin often drives with in other racing classes as well. BWT makes the switch from Aston Martin to Alpine, where it again becomes the main sponsor. Although blue remains the main color of Alpine, the pink of BWT will return on the A522. We will see the final result of the new livery on February 21.
