The Miami Grand Prix a fortnight ago was won by Lando Norris. That was surprising to say the least, as Max Verstappen dominated every previous session that weekend. Charles Leclerc can draw confidence from the fact that anyone can win other than Verstappen. However, the Monegasque driver knows everything has to fall into place.

"We just need to be there whenever there's this opportunity," Leclerc knows. "In Miami, unfortunately, we were a little bit less strong compared to McLaren. And they were also a little bit luckier in the race. However, they deserved it because they brought their upgrade on a tricky weekend, on a sprint race weekend, and everything worked well for them."

Leclerc still hoping for victory

The Italian Scuderia driver is obviously hoping for a miss from his competition in Formula 1. "I go into every weekend knowing that there's an opportunity to win if we do everything perfect. And that's what motivates us, as well as being in a very good, positive moment from the team."

Ferrari brought upgrades to Imola, so Leclerc is positive. "We have the first upgrade of the year this weekend. So I'm positive and optimistic for the future. And occasions like Miami [where Verstappen did not win] are not going to be very often this year. So we need to be always there and hopefully take the next one."
