'Don't be surprised if Stroll loses his spot to Sainz'

Lance Stroll no longer in an Aston Martin. It is almost impossible to imagine his father, Lawrence Stroll, owning the team, but Eddie Jordan has a feeling Lance may lose his seat in 2025.

Lance Stroll has been driving for Aston Martin since 2019 (then under the Racing Point name). With one pole position and two podium finishes (plus an additional podium for Williams), the Canadian has yet to leave an indelible impression in F1. With his father in power, he seems assured of a place in the team.

However, Eddie Jordan thinks otherwise. The former team owner sees Carlos Sainz as a potential driver for Aston Martin. "I would say, Red Bull, if they were to lose somebody like Max or if they were to replace somebody like Perez, you have to say that Carlos would be one of the key people," Jordan said in the podcast Formula For Success.

"However, do not be surprised if you see an all-Spanish Aston Martin team next year." David Coulthard, Jordan's counterpart in the podcast, is surprised by those statements, stating that that would be 'uncomfortable' for Lance Stroll. Indeed, if Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz form the driver duo at Aston Martin in 2025, the Canadian will have lost his place.

"That’s what I believe. I have no real hardcore evidence, but it’s a gut feel. And very often my gut feel is a little bit different to other people’s gut feel. And sometimes, I get it right. Sometimes I absolutely screw up. But it does sound nice," Jordan concluded.
